Fearless Me

If I weren’t afraid……if I weren’t afraid what would I do?

I’d take my camera out on the streets

To get photos and stories from the people I’d meet.

I’d march right up to the President’s door

And say “Why!? Why did you agree to give the rich more?

If I weren’t afraid I’d ask my friend to join me

In trying a new flavor, a new cafe, any new joint, see.

I’d make that call I keep intending to make.

The fact that I’m stopped makes my heart break.

Because I really do, I truly want so much

To not be afraid of people—their opinions and such.

I want to be the one who can stand and deflect

All the meanness out there and demand respect.

If I weren’t afraid this is what I’d do:

I’d invite others into my life, most especially you.
