After She Left

After she left there was

No air in the room.

All energy evaporated as the steam

Coming off a pot of boiled water.

After she left he was unable to see through

The fog of sorrow that clouded his eyes.

He was paralyzed as a marionette left hanging

Above the stage by the puppeteer at the end of the play.

After she left there was no light

With which to see a future.

Darkness filled all the spaces of his heart

Like a damp cellar that has been emptied

And locked up tight.
