Crazy Quilt

If I were art I would be

A crazy quilt with fine filigree

And oodles of shapes and colors

Made by the hands of mothers.

Tiny scraps from a favorite dress

And bits of dad’s Sunday best,

Stitched on top of all the seems

With myriad styles of embroidery.

And then I would be softly laid

Over the comfy, pillowy bed,

To bring comforting dreams

Filled with love and moonbeams
