Little Poems

Waiting with my son in hospital ER. (Turned out not to be serious.)
I asked him to give me a prompt. He gave me these words:
aphids, butterfly, caterpillar.
Juice sipped up into the aphid’s stomach
Makes the stalk weak and thirsty.
While butterfly emerges from the cocoon,
The home of caterpillar firsty.
At 8:40 pm
He slept as we awaited test results, so I worked on this phrase I’d been thinking of for a while:
“Words slide onto the page”
Trip
Stumble
Fall
My feeble attempts to write poems
Trip on the edge of the uneven page.
Pen grasps at the line as it stumbles to the end.
Words fall with a thud on the paper.
Wish my thoughts would slide onto the page
As butter off a warm knife.

Waiting to be picked up by "Lead" driver at work:
He took the long way
I took the short
It’s not a contest
To see who gets here first.
I-205 to 84 went he
82nd to Sandy went me
I arrived before he
I’ve time to write these words
