Monster Buddha

One of my favorite movies is

Disney’s Monsters, Inc.

I loved being shown that not all

“Monsters” are the kind that stink.

So when I approached the silver sculpture

That evoked revulsion and disgust,

I reminded myself that there may be

A sweet, kind story about this bust.

Held in the Portland Art Museum.

We viewed a sterling silver sculpture which looked somewhat like a baby Buddha sitting on a tree trunk, in a lotus flower on top of a very squished elephant.
