Catching Clouds

It seems so easy when I step back

and observe two strangers, disassembling

fences, to come together as friends,

walking away, hand-in-hand, each smiling,

happy to find someone to share with,

while I try to take notes, capture the secret,

learn how to say the right words that

go from my mouth to another's heart.

But that's like trying to catch a cloud

and attach it to this paper: it's gone before

the tape is torn, leaving no trace of its magic

as if it never really existed, making me feel

abandoned

all over again.
