It Wasn’t Supposed To Be This Way
It wasn’t supposed to be this way, the hate toward family members, the hurt feelings, the rejections, the intolerance.
No, I worked too hard to get away from that, to nurture love, nurture forgiveness, nurture caring, love and acceptance for everyone.
But here we are, in the very place I thought I had escaped. Sister pitted against brother blind to what is most important, one butting up against unchosen mental barriers, the other unwilling to forgive the choice that was not made, the audacity of the other to be different, to be unable to crawl out of the prison which was wrongly imposed, unwilling to except that there is no key to open the cell door, unwilling to except that this prison was not a choice.
It was not a choice, it cannot be unchosen. It cannot be fixed anymore than being Filipino was a choice. The ONLY choice is to love or forever be guilty of neglect
