I Often Wonder

I often wonder how I got here, where did the years go.

So quickly they passed, making me feel

I’ve been left in the dust so thick, all I could do

was close my eyes and hope I will come

out of it unscathed.

And now I open my eyes and don’t recognize

where I’ve landed.

Like a tornado,

my life was caught up in its swirling,

deposited back at the beginning of time,

and I have memories,

just not the ones I expected.

I know there was some movement,

but then I turn and find I’m standing

in the very same place

from where I started this journey

It doesn’t feel like a beginning.

It feels like I’m near the finish line,

and if I move too swiftly I will cross

the line of no return.
