Resolution 2010

We’ve come to that time of year again,

When we feel the need to look within.

To weed out faults and weaknesses,

Vowing to change our freakishness.

We fret over what to work upon:

Those heavy thighs or a nose too long?

Use wrinkle cream for a youthful look?

Increase our knowledge, read a whole book?

Change our hair, straight, not curled?

Travel more, see the world?

Cut back a bit on the cigarettes?

Save some money, make fewer bets?

Sadly that bullying fear of rejection

Causes a vain quest for perfection.

So much blame and self-accusing.

We take quite the emotional bruising,

Following along like sheep in a herd,

Instead of embracing our internal nerd

This year I’ve found a new solution.

“No more New Years Resolutions!”
