Rest Me Far Into the Meadow

Rest me far into the meadow

By weeping willow and fragrant pine

To be watched over in the quiet farrow

With white trillium and blue columbine.

Plant me among the green swaying grasses

On Mt. Hebo which hides the hillock

Where the hiker and the cougar passes,

And the bear, the rabbit and the hawk.

Sow my urn, with sprouting seed,

To soak in sunshine and spring rain

That falls on the verdant, pastoral mead.

There forever I will settle and remain.

Find peace in my bereaved end,

As year upon year my sapling grows.

Come picnic in my cool shade, then

Say goodbye and blithely let me go.
