The Skin of the Peach

The walk through the orchard awakened my soul

Even though at first my body said "No."

My mind said "No is not an option."

So we found ourselves in the hot sun.

Because my new religion is "Never Give In."

Don't talk yourself out of the joy of livin'.

Jump over those hurdles placed in your way,

Knowing each sunrise gifts you a new day.

So I plucked that fruit hanging on the vine,

The sweet grapes with which to make wine,

I pulled on the orb hanging within reach,

Where summer lay 'neath the skin of the peach.
